Technical Education in the Age of AI: Promoting Literacy and Innovation Online

Presenter: Dominic Slauson, UC Irvine, Learning Experience Designer and founder of Codaptive Labs LLC

Dominic is a Learning Experience Designer at the University of California Irvine's Paul Merage School of Business.  Dominic has extensive experience in the educational field, having held roles in faculty development, instructional design, and educational technology. For the past 5 years, Dominic has also served as Instructional Technologist for the OpenRN Project - a $2.5 million dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Education to develop OER nursing textbooks and virtual simulations.  Through this work, Dominic has leveraged generative artificial intelligence to create rich and engaging simulations that allow learners to apply clinical judgment in exciting new ways.  In 2022, Dominic founded Codaptive Labs, a company dedicated to providing training and resources to ensure the responsible and innovative implementation of generative artificial intelligence in education settings. In his work, Dominic places emphasis on thoughtfully integrating AI technologies to enhance teaching and learning while prioritizing ethical considerations and access for all learners
